ART FUN FACT

Pablo Picasso could draw before he could walk, and his first word was the Spanish word for pencil.

The Spanish word for pencil is lápiz. This was Picasso’s first word and he was pronouncing it like “piz, piz”. The rest is history. When he was 13, Picasso’s father (being a painter himself) saw his drawing of a pigeon and concluded that his son had surpassed him.

First Annual: SPI Art Attack

July 18 - 20

The biggest art event of the summer approaches. Three days of free events, fine art, music, and all open to the public. Kicking it off with the opening reception of The Art Lounge’s newest exhibition “Isla”.

“Isla” is a celebration through art of our island home. The pace of life is unhurried on South Padre Island, with its golden sunlight, sparkling turquoise waters, palm trees swaying lazily in the warm breeze, and an occasional call of seagulls … Every moment here invites one to relax and breathe deeply, soaking in the tranquility that only such a paradise could offer.

We invite you to join us for the opening reception of “Isla” on Thursday, July 18 from 8 - 10 p.m. A free event! Enjoy fine art, refreshments, small bites, and live music.

Dress the Theme
