Hamsa always dreamed of opening her own gallery and having a space where creatives could gather together. She moved down to South Padre Island at the beginning of 2021 but has been visiting the island since she was young. During her first year living on the island, she joined a year-long art residency at the Art Business Incubator.

During her time on the island, she discovered a beautiful space next to the ocean and knew right away its potential. After almost a year of planning, designing, cleaning, painting, and reimagining, her vision has come to life.

Cristina moved from Michigan to Port Isabel, TX a little over a year ago. She became a resident artist with the Art Business Incubator which is where she and Hamsa met and began dreaming up The Art Lounge.

Besides helping manage the lounge, she is also a featured artist. Both her style and vision have helped create The Art Lounge.

Vilma was born in Brownsville, Texas, and raised by Mexican parents. She grew up surrounded by people who create art and has always looked up to them. She continuously experiments with many different types of art such as photography, and mixed media, and is now focusing on candle making.

Vilma currently works at the children’s museum in Brownsville.

Adriana Martinez grew up between the two worlds of urban Texas and coastal Mexico. Her love of art and native wonders is a heartfelt pursuit that has led her all around the world from Texas to San Miguel de Allende to Florence, Italy; from Italy to Spain and Morocco; from Europe back to Mexico, dramatically steeped in its own complex web of histories and rich, resplendent cultures. She is a visual artist, a dream illustrator, a painter of souls, and often works closely with private collectors and ethnic groups. Adriana currently lives in Los Fresnos, TX with her beautiful family and pets.

Mexican/American jeweler originally from Matamoros, MX now living in Port Isabel, TX. Joel’s interest in jewelry was sparked in 2019 when a local jeweler asked Joel to assist him in making new pieces. He loved the way he could lose himself all day making jewelry. “I almost became obsessed with Jewelry making.” Apart from this short mentorship, Joel is mainly self-taught.

Aranzy was born in Matamoros, Mexico, and later immigrated to Brownsville, Texas with her family. Aranzy admires art and focuses her talent on photography and candle making. She discovered her passion for candle-making during the covid lockdown of 2020. Later on, with her entrepreneurial spirit, she turned it into her small business, Vivá Lavanda. Today you can find her organic and artisanal candles at The Art Lounge and partake in various workshops with Aranzy and her business partner, Vilma.
